Well, I am a Mason, and that IS a kickass hat, but still not correct. It is a part of the Masons though.

looks like a Shriner hat to me.
At least my brother has one of those hats.
If I can spell correctly my brother is a past potentate.
And a current worshipful master.

Yup, Ruben is correct, also known as the Knights Templar. I was being installed as the Commander of my Commandery for the 2nd year.
