I am not a coffee drinker but my daughter is and she got one like this, a Keurig brand coffee brewer for Christmas. It has been great fun and useful.

I'd be hard pressed to return to the old style brewer. We even use it for hot cocoa in the evening. You just run it without a K-Cup in it and it puts nice, hot water into a cup you've already added the cocoa to. Makes great tea water also.

How many watts does it pull?

I'm running just a 200 watt converter for my laptop on the road.

I'm not sure, but it might be a bit much for a 200 watt one. Not only does it have a keep warm circuit, it has a fast heat cycle, and a pump to push the water through the K-Cup and pull fresh water from the holding tank to the heating tank.

I have one of the single-serve varieties of this machine. I bought an optional filter attachment so I may use normal coffee grounds, as the K-cups run around 50 cents per serving.

We're cheap. We can recycle each cup through 3 times and it's not bad. The other factor in our purchase was the fact we won't have coffee grounds to deal with in our motor home, thereby reducing the trash. Won't have to buy coffee filters either, thereby saving more trash. It's worth the little extra we pay for the convenience.
