OK - I changed cgi-bin to 755. I have no idea why those 4 files weren't in the cgi-bin
They were there yesterday. I re-loaded them into the cgi-bin & set them as 755

Still can't get anywhere.

Should I re-load everything again & start from scratch? It will take me a while to get back to where I was before it went down, but I don't care anymore.

Do you have access to your error log? The variable files should be set with 777 permissions, not 755. If you'd like you can email me your FTP information and I will see if I can find the problem.

All your setting appear to be correct. I noticed your server is running with suexec, so I tightened up the permissions, though it did not fix the problem. I uploaded a simple hello world script to your cgi-bin directory and it didn't work.

I suggest you contact your host and find out if they are having any server problems. As well I suggest you ask them about the 4 variable files that disappeared. As you uploaded new variable files, all your previous settings are now gone.

I noticed that you reset the cgi-bin files to 700. I guess that should work under the circumstances. I have talked to one of the support guys at my isp, but the main guy who deals with this is not in & not answering his emails at his home address (which is unusual), so it looks like I'll still be dealing with this for yet another day. I'm at the end of my rope with this install & surprised that one of your tech support people didn't even answer my emails (even to say I have to buy a support pkg, or something!). Thankfully you guys are here.

Thanks anyway for trying. I truly appreciate it.

Who did you email at Infopop? I suggest you keep trying to reach your host's tech support. All your settings appear to be fine and I was unable to get a simple hello world script to work on your server. Your host is most likely having server problems.

I emailed support@infopop last night & again today. I also sent an email to kristi@infopop.com, who had helped me yesterday morning (from the first support email I sent on Monday night).

I'm trying to get my isp's support guys on it but I hear the "main" guy is currently unable to be contacted (car problems & power outages in his neighborhood) - so the story continues.

I gotta go & take some more blood-pressure medicine :^)

If your server went down suddenly, your host is most likely having server problems and Infopop would not be able to do anything until the server problems have been fixed. I suggest you keep trying to reach your hosts tech support.

Don't know that the server went down suddenly, they are located in a different city than the tech support guy's home office. I'll keep trying.

Oops, meant to write UBB, not server. If your UBB went down suddenly, your host is most likely having server problems.
