As per my old threads in this forum, I have an old 5x board. I was able to save the first 3 forums to my computer before the site host crashed and vanished. I have restored those 3 forums and they work now. However, I found the pindex folder and inside is a file called "privateforumindex6.cgi" which seems to contain every post that had existed in that password protected forum in a big cgi file.

Is there any way to make that index file restore that forum?

Unfortunately, no. That's the search index, which is a condensed version of each post. There's no way to restore the original post from the index.
