If you log onto the forum onto your staff account (or 2ndary account) do some surfing, and then log off and log back onto your other account (lets say from account A to account B) and then go onto a forum page (not an issue in general.. but say a private forum). you're first log in (account A) will be displayed as who is/has visited this forum.

In theory, when you log out, your Recent Visitors information should be cleared out, and then not reassigned instantly when you log back in.

Are you visiting any other pages between logging out and logging back in again? If so, what could be happening is that the system either does not properly clear out the pntf cookie, and/or still knows it's you and assigns you the same ID.

That second bit of functionality is intended, for the purpose of identifying guests that log back in.

In either case, however, this is one of those "Don't DO that!" issues. Account hopping is not a routine thing.

I actually do need to switch between two identities, numerous times a day. I've run into several issues involving one username showing up on restricted forums to which the identity shouldn't have access.

We encourage staff to have separate accounts for posting and try to keep staff identities from being compromised, but that's difficult to do when switching between usernames leaves such obvious clues.

The Recent Visitors line displays usernames for a set variable of time (which can be updated through the Control Panel on the Recent Visitors tab under the General link) this time will allow you to adjust how long you wish users to show in recent visitors.

Just because a username is shown in the recent visitors doesn't mean they're online "now", it simply means they've been online within so many minutes (defined by the "Minutes to Track Users:" option).
