When you login, the "new messages" referring to private messages is really annoying... has anybody changed this to read "Welcome ___, You Have 0 New Private Messages" ??

Well, I edited my english.pl for the Main Index to say "private messages" instead of "messages", because I found that confusing as well. Just find the passage in your english.pl and change it - or any other language.pl that is in use on your board.

Yeah, ask questions first, look later, is the approach I've been taking today

Last time I messed with the language files I screwed my whole board up, wish me luck this time around!

Actually, it would be nice if the whole text would have a different color when there are messages, it is very easy to not notice that you have messages. It's even happened to me, that I hadn't noticed till two weeks after being sent a private message.
Just a different display, more noticeable when there are messages.

You can set your profile to send you an e-mail when you have new private messages - if you don't check into the forum for a while, etc.
