I can't say that I agree. 10 hours to chmod?? Ever try chmod 755 *.pl? As someone who needs to make extensive hacking changes to the board, having the scripts all independent is a boon.

and then there's the issue of speed. anyone want to guess at how much slower this software would be (without mod_perl) if it had to load the entire code for every operation?

Wouldn't be easier in that case to make a symlink from /usr/local/bin/perl to /usr/bin/perl then you wouldn't have to edit the scripts at all?

I dunno, I did this in a Windows text editor before uploading the files to my Unix server and it took my all of five minutes to select the top line of each file with <shift>+<down> and then hit <ctrl>-v to paste.

I personally think that its a great idea to keep them more modular. Much easier to hack at.
