This is an idea I requested a while back for UBB. But, since I’m in the process of transferring from UBB to UBBT, I’d like to see it here.

I’d like to make a member “invisible” so that whenever the member posted, no one else would see it. Only the “invisible member” would see their own posts amidst the other posts. The member would never know that they were invisible to everyone else.

I believe this feature would be extremely effective in dealing with abusive members. Their abusive posts would not be reinforced by comments from other posters, thus making the message board less attractive to them and eventually leaving.

I’m assuming the ability to create this feature would be quite a bit easier to do with UBBT than UBB.

Great idea ! I'd like to have that on UBBThreads. Sounds even better than banning Users. Imagine: a abusive User posts and posts his BS but no one answers to it. Wow, I love this one.

Great idea! The only catch I can see to this is if you allow anonymous browsing of the forums. If they were to logout and look for their posts they wouldn't be able to find them and would catch on. But still I think this could come in very handy.

Yes, they could log out and discover they cant see their posts... but chances are that they wouldnt log out (what for?). Even if some do discover it, its worth the try, I´d say.

Actually...I raised the idea back in 8/01 on the UBB forum. But as I mentioned above, I’d like to see it implemented in UBBT, since I’ll be switching to UBBT anyway and I believe it would be an easier add with php.

I understand that there would be ways to get around the “invisible member” idea. But, it would be a great addition to the banning arsenal.

What about not only havinf thise functionality on a member but also have the same functionality for individual posts. This way a fast and responsive admin could take an offensive post 'offline' without deleteing it, and the offender still sees his posting, and everything is fine ...

Nonetheless, this would be something I would like see!
