Although I'm much happier with the search engine in UBBThreads than in UBB, I think there is still room for improvement. I know the speed is much better in v6 and that flat mode will be supported. Have you considered using MySQL's FULLTEXT index? We're working on a couple of new projects that will be using this and really like the way it works. It sorts everything by relevancy and supports boolean searches as well. Since it is an index, it is very fast. All this is built-in to MySQL, so coding is minimal other than forming the query and displaying the results. I think this would be a great upgrade to the Threads search engine. A little code to remove duplicates from the results and page through a long list would really polish up the search feature.

With over 700,000 posts on my site, the search engine is used a lot. There is much good information buried in our archived messages. The problem is making it easy for users to access.

Thanks,
Jason
