To "up" the "quality" in some online debattes, to avoid chit-chat, it would be nice to start a new thread with a quota on how many replies each registered user is allowed to post. Perhaps both pr. thread, and/or pr. user in the thread.

For example, if I start a thread with a reply quota of 3, in this thread I can make 2 repliesand every one else will only be able to make 3 replies pr. user, thus making sure that your adversaries will have the last word, enforcing a good debating discipline.

If one try to make a 4'th reply to a user in the thread, you'll get a message saying that the quota is up.

This will force the debatter to put some effort into his or her's posts, and enable sort of a non-moderated form of formal debattes.

Just an idea.
