Hi!

I am in the process of moving our web site and message board to a new ISP and just got done setting up and testing a fresh installation of what I THOUGHT was UBB version 6.2.1 on our new server. The good news is everything seems to be working fine (after resolving a few issues with the help of the search feature here).

THEN the bad news... I look at the bottom of the forum pages and it says UBB 6.2.1 Beta Release 1.0 (instead of UBB 6.2.1 that I was expecting)! So I go to the Control Panel on our old bulletin board and compare it to what it says on the new bulletin board setup:

NEW board says - You are using UBB 6.2.1 Beta Release 1.0, released on February 4, 2002.

OLD board says - You are using UBBTM 6.2.1, released on 2-18-2002.

So what do I do? Did I use the wrong ZIP file to set up the new board and if so (1) what is the correct ZIP file I should have used (I must have it on my harddrive somewhere) and (2) can I update the new installation to the correct version without reinstalling everything?

For reference, here are the addresses to the...

OLD (current) message board - http://www.mustanggt.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

NEW (test) message board - http://ws05.ipowerweb.com/mustangg/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

Thanks!

Kathy Bowers

P.S. - I'm planning to upgrade the message board to the current version of UBB after I get everything transferred over to the new ISP.

Here's what I would do.

Since you used a full version of 6.2.1 Beta Release 1, I would upgrade that board to 6.2.1 Final.

After you get the versions to match, start the restore procedures found at http://www.ubbcentral.com/support/docs/ubbclassic/UBB6_backup_transfer.html

After you get the data moved over, then upgrade to 6.7.1 and you should be in good shape.

After you get the versions to match...[/qb][/QUOTE]Hmmm, well that right there is my problem... I'm not sure what the name & date of the .zip file is I should be looking for on my harddrive for the 6.2.1 Final version. I can find the following UBB .zip files on my harddrive:

ubb620-release-full.zip 569kb 2/17/02
ubb620-release-full-local.zip 569kb 2/17/02
ubb621-br[1].0-release.zip 602kb 2/17/02

It doesn't appear that any of these files is the correct one. I'm pretty sure that the last one is the one I used (which ended up being the 6.2.1 beta release 1.0). I know I must have had the correct .zip file at some point because that is the version we're currently using.

Would the correct final version of 6.2.1 still be available for download in the members area? I don't currently have a membership, but I'm going to renew my membership in the next day or so since I'm wanting to upgrade to the 6.7.1 version after I've moved to the new ISP.

Thanks!

Kathy

I would fill out a support ticket and request the UBB 6.2.1 full install zip. Inculde a URL to this topic, and explain that you need it for the transfer. Assuming your license was vaild at the time 6.2.1 was released (I'm guessing so since you have it loaded) it shouldn't be a problem.

It might be safe to do it with the beta, but I would rather get the full zip and do exact versions than take the chance of having a problem using a different version, even if it is BR1 vs the release.

I believe that you are looking for ubb621-release-full or ubb621-release-upgrade. You might as well get the full to be on the safe side.

Do note that we do not provide zips of older versions unless your Member Area access is updated. As you were planning to upgrade anyway, this will work out fine for you - you'll just need to pay for the renewal now rather than later.
