I am sorry for asking, perhaps, a stupid question but I cannot find where a problem is.
When someone is signing to my board, password notification is not coming to his e-mail. Checking this trouble I was trying to send e-mails to board members -thoug software claims that message hase been sent, no one (including me)has received it. The same trouble with UBBfriend -it says that message has been sent, but message never arrives.
My forum is registered UBB6.05 (with some small hacks) located at: http://www.sera.com.ua/forum
Server is UNIX Apache 1.3.22 , Perl 5.00503

If one may advise me I would be much grateful!
(I also checked e-mail functions with Phorm 2.51 PHP script -it works without any trouble). :eek:

Thank you for a reply. I 've checked all mail functions again and no one seems to work -no UBBfriend, no private message notification, no password/login recovery e-mailing.
What can be wrong -provider claims he changed nothing and previously these service worked.

It's sendmail. UBB found path itself as /USR/SBIN/SENDMAIL.

Evgen[/QUOTE]Actually, no UBB didn't. It probably just used a stock path. You'll want to verify with your web hosting provider on whether they use sendmail or SMTP and the correct path to the appropriate service.

If that path does end up being correct, see if your web host keeps any mail error logs.

Please make sure that the path really isn't "/USR/SBIN/SENDMAIL" - the path MUST be lower-case.

Please ask your web hosting provider about the real location of sendmail...

Provider uses Unix (I think Solaris) and so, Sendmail.
He says he changed nothing - but e-mail function stop working.
Is there any way (say, using php or cgi script) in order to find location of mail function on server?
Or there is a problem somewhere in different place?

If he changed nothing, then you may have changed something.

Try this.

Download and edit vars_mail.cgi. Delete the sendmail path line within it, and upload it to the server.

After doing so, enter email settings.

Is the path that is now in email settings the same as it was before?

Many thanks for your reply. It seems to be a kind of vudu magic , but after aplyying pproposed procedure mail function started working again!
The strange thing is that new path is exactly the same as the old one!?
Anyhow, thank you and SWFan for your time and help!
