Ok, here's what worked for me...

Try going in to the Modules/Net and Modules/MIME sub-directories, and running the PERL packages from the command line. I bet you'll find at least one complains about something. (You'll have to run tham as "perl SMTP.pm" not just "./SMTP.pm")

When I ran Modules/Net/SMTP.pm I got:

Can't locate IO/Socket/INET.pm in @INC...

and when I ran Modiles/MIME/Lite.pm, I got:

Can't locate File/Spec/Unix.pm in @INC...

These errors indicate that the PERL packages are looking for other packages that are not installed, or are not in the include path.

In my case, they were in fact installed, but the permissions on the directories holding the referenced PERL modules was wrong. (700, should have been 755). So for example, my /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.6.0/File/Spec and /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.6.0/IO/Socket directories had the wrong permissions.

As soon as I corrected them, everything worked fine.

Hopefully this helps some of the others out there.

If you find different errors when you run your cgi-bin/Modiles/* packages, post them here, and we'll see if we can help out.

Cheers

OK... thanks to your little description there, i started playing with those files. MY BOARD NOW WORKS!

Here is exactly what i did.

1. uploaded all my old cgi from 547
2. deleted /cgi-bin/Members/public_names.cgi (so the upgrade will run again)
3. uploaded the whole modules folder to /cgi-bin/
4. ran /cgi-bin/ubb6_upgrade.cgi

After that, the registration problem went away.

I'm having this problem too (UBB6 beta 7.1) -- I tried Phoenix's solution, but no dice. I've done two installations -- one as an upgrade, and one as a new installation. In both cases, attempts to create a new registration give me the blank screen (for the new installation, that means I can't create the original administrator profile).

ubb6_test.cgi confirms that my directories and permissions all check out. Modules is at 777. I don't have access to my perl installation to see if my perl module permissions are out of whack as cdnArmy suggests above.

At the moment, I'm dead in the water, but it looks like I'm in good company with this bug, looking at other posts across the board.

I am running UBB6 on a Windows NT server and am of course having the problem as well. So I cannot do the chmod anyway, permissions are a little simplier to setup on this platform as far as that goes. Hope to see something happen with this soon.
