Version 6.5 is a major upgrade, with an entirely new control panel, a new upgrade system, and many new features and refinements.

• Entirely rewrote the control panel from scratch. Every feature was considered, some removed, most expanded cleaned up, or made simpler to use.
• Entirely rewrote the upgrade system to more closely mimic the .classic system, which has been in use for many versions, is widely accepted, and easy to use.
• Entirely rewrote the backup system. UBB.threads no longer requires the presence of, and access to, external system binaries.
• Entirely reworked the search. It is now faster and easier on the server. Admins have more configuration options to further tailor it to their server or use patterns.
• Entirely rewrote the import feature. The import is now compatible with both eve and UBB.classic allowing movement in either direction. We also now have the ability to import from other message board products as well.
• Added Content Islands. The content islands can be created as a server side or PHP include, a JavaScript include or an RSS 0.92, RSS 1.0 or RSS 2.0 feed.
• Added Search Engine Friendly URLs. Switching this on will make all links for the main forum listing, topic listing, and topics search engine friendly. All old style links will continue to work no matter what the setting is. Thanks to Joshpet for the idea.
• Censor list and reserved names list now accept wildcards.
• Data storage for the censoring (badwords, badnames) has been moved to the database.
• Added the ability to limit the number of private messages a user can have.
• Global announcements have been added.
• Flood control system added.
• Allow the admin to use a URL instead of an email address for the contact link.
• Added a stylesheet preview to User's display preferences in "My Home."
• Moved the default location of config.inc.php, theme.inc.php and main.inc.php into the includes folder.
• Added an underline markup tag and added it to the instant ubbcode box.
• Added a stylesheet preview to the display preferences screen.
• Added a signature preview to the user's basic preferences screen.
• Added new flood control protection. A default time between posts can be set on a global basis and also set on an individual basis.
