Do I have to install version 7 to the same directory as the 6.5 to have attachments in old posts show?

http://www.haroldandrews.com/importtest/...e=1&fpart=4

http://www.haroldandrews.com/ubbthreads/...e=0&fpart=4

The image link is changed during the import or assumes that it staying in the same directory?

I was planning to move my board from haroldandrews.com/ubbthreads to forum.haroldandrews.com during the upgrade. Now I'm not too sure if I should if the old attachments won't be available.

Harold, if your site depends on incoming search engine traffic I'd recommend you take a look at my "webmaster mistakes" thread on my site before following through with using a subdomain for your forums:

Gizzy, I get a bunch of search traffic in, but I'm not concerned about losing any ranking. It's just a personal site with no advertising or revenue stream.

Hmmm.... the attachment number changed in the importtest too. That might be from a server harddrive dying and losing some of the earlier attachments.

Ahh, ok, for sites that worry about income its a biggy hehe, i gues if it's just a personal site it won't matter much... I've been working on my list of design grypes a lot lately lol...

I'm starting to think I might need to leave my 6.5.1 up as an archive so that the attachments aren't lost unless the importer is changed to handle the attachments differently.

There are 2 options with the attachments. You can either set your attachments directory in 7.0 to the same directory that it was in 6.5. Or you can make it something different and then move all of the 6.5 attachments over to the new directory, which is what I did when I merged the forums here.

Thanks, Rick. I'll give it a try.
