Forgive me, I though I had posted this question, but can't seem to find it so I'll ask again.

I am not ready to go live yet with V7 as I want to get all the styles and other things, like Portal Layout, etc, all set up first. I ran the importer just to test it out and it seemed to work fine. However, once I get all the styles and portal layout such set up, I want to start from scratch and re-import all my data from my old threads, but then I want to have all the new styles I've created again as well as my portal layouts, etc.

How should I go about this? Would this be the right approach:

Basil

The styles has an option to export, use that then after you re-import your forum you can import your style back.

As for settings, most settings are stored in flat files and are unaffected by the database.

Thanks - How do I kill the data that is currently there so I can re-import? Do I need to drop some tables, all tables? Should I just drop all tables then re-run the install?

you'll want to go in and re-validate all settings after you're doneimporting again.

Basically your to do list:
Drop databases.
Run "createtables.php" from the install folder.
Run your importer
Validate all settings
Import styles.

thanks! Thats the list I was looking for. One more question - has teh importer changed with 7.0.2? When I did my original install and import, I installed 7.0, then did the import. I have since upgraded to 7.0.2. Do I use the same importer or is a newer one available?

I'm not sure if it's changed, I haven't really ran it since beta; but I know it's changed since then... It'd probably be good to snag the latest importer as a just in case though.

Also, be sure you export your styles before dropping your databases ;\)

Well, I looked at what they had in the member area and teh file dats have not changed so I used teh imported I used last time and it worked great! Then, after the 6.5 import, I re-imported the styles and also the Portal tables and that all seems to have worked fine. Thanks for the help!
