k I was thinking about a mood icon that gets posted with your post. That way you can express yourself much easier on topics you have trouble with and topics you are happy with .. mood will change per post etc and stay with the post.

So if you have an issue in the beginning you can have a type mood and throughout the thread if things get better they can see you have a type mood and are happy with how things are going.

It is also very useful when heated or sarcastic discussions are going on. They can call you a butthead with a and you know they are kidding or they can call you a butthead with a and you know they are upset with you LOL

correct, i feel it'd be better on the "how you feel about the subject" but rick wanted it "how you feel right now"

Why not BOTH - Mood overall LIVE, and mood at time of post?

Ok, here's the scoop on the mood indicators. They basically go along with your online/offline status. So it designates, you're on right now and feeling sad/happy/etc.

Your mood on a particular post is what the post icon is for. If you think a post sucks, then you give it thumbs down, mad, etc. If you think it's good, thumbs up, happy, etc.

If you have another mood indicator for your mood at the time of the post, then the post icons serve no real purpose that I know of.

Aye that could probably be used for such purpose. We have been trained over the years of making posts that the post icon is just an anchor. There are also about 10 icons that have nothing to do with mood there

It's not really thought of in most minds as a mood icon. Maybe renaming it from post icon to Mood icon will put people in the right frame of mind on how it is used.. It would also would be nice to have a quick mood selector off to the right when you do a Quick Reply.. No way to change that when using quick reply etc..

I always thought of post icons as a way to denote what type of post it is.. informational or funny or breaking news etc..

Another thing I didn't point out. If you're not online the mood is just set to a grey "no mood" type. If the mood icon was to be used for your mood at the time of the post, there would need to be a greyed out mood that matches the colored one. It makes things much more complex, as then you'd need subdirectories under the mood image directory for logged in/logged out mood images.

At this point I don't want to over complicate things. It may change in the future, but most times you get the idea of the persons mood just from reading the post. In it's current state the mood indicator was put in as a compliment for the online/offline display.

At the moment it is just fine - I think we are all guilty of not using the post icons to their full extent - it is a feature that often gets forgotten. Maybe 'Post Icon' is the wrong word, I do not know.

To be honest, in .C I always disabled the post icons, never liked them and never understood what they where for lol...
