Question... who / what determines the real 3 hours of time?
i.e. I have had support guys that report to me that would take 5 times as long to fix a given problem than it would take me.
I would really dislike and be upset if my 3 hours was burned up on a noobie learning curve or on red tape politics.
I'm close to buying a license for a new site and was checking the prices and saw this entry above.
The current site I admin for is not money out of my pocket, this new site will be from my own money. I'm not sure I want or need the 5 year at this point, but who knows for sure.

Advanced support is rarely used. Maybe a couple times a month out of all the support that is done will an advanced support issue come up. Advanced support is normally only needed when I have to actually work on a problem at the server level.
I'm trying to think of an example when I've used one with threads but they are very rare. Old classic installs would use them for time to time when the file corruption couldn't be fixed with the normal control panel means. I'll guess I can put it this way, since 7.0 has come out, I work on a handful of tickets every day and I think I've had one user need advanced support. And that was because he requested that I do some custom work to duplicate his old board

Oh god, I don't even look at how much time I have (:wanders over and checks: bought in 1999, 10 units available)...
Most of the time you can get better/faster support on the help forums (or UBBDev), advanced support is generally going through the infopop/groupee/madronapark/whateverthenameisthisweek's helpdesk and bugging them ;).
Hmm, maybe I should put my support units towards the whipping of Rick to push out features I don't think will ever be put into .T7...
Anyway I can get 7.1b3 as the initial install when I buy a license tonight ? 7.1b3 seems much better than 7.02 already even with some of the current bugs. Then I can do 7.1b4 when it's ready.
I have no idea what support I have - I can't say that I have ever out in a ticket - I always found UBBDev & this forum to solve any queries that I have. We all work together both there and here...
