is there a way to put a google adspace in the right side column?

Create a custom portal box, drop your adsense code in, then set it to where you want it displayed.

There is a "modification" at UBBDev which shows how a custom adsense island looks.

is that 'custom Portal Island"?

Thanks Gizmo I'll have to check back on this as there are Google Ads on the site I admin. I'm trying to get the owner to do away with them but so far I still have to use them

Maybe placing them in the islands is cleaner though.

You can use differant ad's in the island, and assign it where you'd like, may it be in the forum island (under the first post like i use) or in the left/right columns.

You can set it to left/right in the portal setting, or forum island through the forum settings.

i have never used em before i have always hated banner ads. but i got $80 total so far the two days they have been on. that pays a lot of my monthly server bill if it continues!!!

some of the threads during hurricanes are amazing and frightening. that forum is off except during storms. tho sometimes i let researchers in there. we're on 24/7 during hurricanes. rescue and info central. traffic on the board goes to like 250,000 unique hosts a day and i go broke

theres a lot of good placement options though

the board has been the number one reason our whole site has done well over the years. we have a large solid userbase, who answer questions for a lot of folks with wit and humor. it has definently aided and abbetted the Belizean tourist industry.

the google ad on the board got 11,900 and 11,700 impressions the first two days. that board is workin hard

I'm lucky to make $200 every 2 months with my ads... not to mention client work is down, so i'm running on thin ice lol

i doubt what i got the first two days is very indicative

I usually make anywhere between $800-1200/month with AdSense. However, practically none of that comes via my forum. :/

Well, I only make that much putting ads on my main sites (e.g., Scarface1983.com and TheGodfatherTrilogy.com). The key (and the hard part), tho, is to have definitive site(s) about something popular, sites that have been around a long time (11+ years for mine) without much competition, and have good exposure in the search engines.

But from my forum itself, I get very little. Bunch of tightwads on my BB apparently. lol

BTW - I used to make almost that much from AllPosters as well (e.g., MobPosters.com), but that's been down to only a couple/few hundred per month (better than nothing, tho! ) I'm with Amazon, too, but that pretty much is a waste unless you sell A LOT of stuff (I don't).
