One of my members reports that when they attempt to turn off the right column, they get the following error:

"It does not appear that this was submitted from the proper form"

Any help would be appreciated.

Can they change any other values on their preferences page? There is a check in place to make sure the preferences are being submitted properly. It basically makes a key and stuffs it into the database and into the form, and when submitting it makes sure that the key being submitted is the same as the database.

So, this could happen, if they have 2 tabs open on the preferences page and try to submit or something like that.

Can you have them delete the cookie just for your board. Then try again.

I've not experienced that on any sites I visit. Once logged on they don't seem to know the difference between tabs or windows even.

Not saying it's not possible but I've not seen a cookie know that sort of info.

There is really only 1 way for it to happen. It doesn't actually use cookies. It would happen like this.

Tab 1. You open your preferences page. It generates a key and stores that in the database and puts it into the form. You don't submit.

Tab 2. You open your prefernece page. It generates a key and stores that in the database and puts it into the form. You don't submit.

You go back to tab 1 and submit. The key that is in that form will no longer match the key that is in the database and you'll get that error.

Now why someone would do that, I don't know, but that's how it could happen ;\)

Thanks for the answer. I for one "might" accidentally do that as some times I can have multiple windows open to the same site.

Rick I'll have them try again and make sure they are not opening two tabs before submit.
