On my forums I can't type the word lynx (with a space after it) without the server denying it (Forbidden)... wonder if it could be something as dumb as that, as it's some sort of hacker filter or something on the server itself...

PS - Okay, never mind - just saw you mention it's the ampersand.

Way back in the early betas this was a problem, which is why I'm curious on your version. I know your initial subject labeled it as 7.1.b3 but I know that can't be the case because that hasn't been released to the public yet ;\)

This is due to your host using mod_security; lynx is on their fail list (i've used it before lol).

I'm wondering if & is being escaped properly...

Rick, by viewing his sql info that he dropped earlier, & is shown as & and isnt escaped as:
Code:
&

Could it be breaking the shoutbox by not being ran through htmlentities?

Aha, I guess I better clarify on the subject lines for the News posts ;\)

I know we fixed a few issues with the shoutbox in 7.0.2, so I'm wondering if maybe all of the files didn't get updated, if you upgraded from a previous version. At this point I'd recommend opening a support ticket with FTP and admin info so I can take a looksee.

Gizmo, the & to & translation actually gets done when it's pulled from the database and sent to the browser. It stores it in it's original format.
