Likely it's the edit post timer, some users go to edit after it's in effect, whereas others get to it beforehand... that or some are mods and are exempt from it...

UBBDev is set to one month ;)... Myself, i have mine set to 30 minutes; I figure that if they can't think of anything to add in that timeframe that it's done... keep in mind, leaving things open allows users to delete posts/content as well.
I for one allow unlimited editing -- (still running the old Classic board, getting ready to move to Threads).
It has never been much of a problem. One old timer got fussy about his number of posts, and went back and deleted many that he thought were useless. That was no problem.
In another case, a troublemaker started a thread, then deleted his first post, removing all followups. But this guy was removed some time later.
I would like to see some way to allow unlimited editing in Threads. what is the highest number allowed in the setting?

A three year long member who was quite active on the forums, decided he no longer wanted to be associated with the community... We lost 1500 threads, and 5k posts...
On another case, a moderator got bored and deleted all of the posts in the sections he moderated; then told me to get a life once i confronted him about it... yeh, we where screwed lol...
Though that was on classic, if it was threads I could just build an index of all of the threads in those forums and restore it from backup ;)...
