the only ones that need a type defined is background and border; and even then you can define a background in just the "background:" option heh

I'm striking out on this one. I can change the font size fine, but when I edit the color, nothing happens.

Could another style or setting be over-riding this?

Here's my settings:
font-size: 10pt;
font-weight: bold;
color: #000000;
background: #FFFFFF;
padding: 3px;
border-top: #000000 solid 0px;
text-align: center;

If it's a link you have to edit the "special properties" for that class.
