Can someone please help simply explain the following functions to me so I know what they actually do? Thank you:

>> Allow Toggle of Markup/HTML in Posts?

IIRC, this allows posters to select if they want to use html/markup (bbcode) code in posts.

ZLIB is a compression algoritm, quite simply, it compresses the output from your server to the user, which saves bandwidth on both ends.

Still not sure on that first one there, I need a simpler non-tech explain ;\)

Zlib compression - so is it best I turn that on? And how come it is not just on by default if it is a good thing?

Sorry for the continued ???s - I'm nearly there!

It's recommended to be on (zlib).

As for html/markup toggling, in short, I doubt you need it enabled.

Are there any -'s to this "zlib" being "on"?
(Whatever you say I'll take your word for it!)

ZLib can add a (albeit small) cpu usage hit to the server, then again just about any php script can do this as well.

I have all of my php scripts routed through ZLib on my server through .htaccess definitions.
