It seems that 24 hours is not long enough for some people to verify their email address when registering. Yes, I think it is, and yes we have put clear messages on the page - but people obviously don't read those messages.... and we are having some new registrations wiped out by this 24 hour period expiring.

Anyhow, regardless of peoples silliness at not reading ---- how do I change it so that, for example, we give people 48 or 72 hours to verify a new registration mail rather than just 24.

Thanks.

I do think it needs a slight increase, 48 hours, or an admin selectable limit (of being able to choose 24 or 48 hours)

If we add options please give us the option for as long as we want (in hours).... as I said we have had a few people register, not verfify in time and then never be seen again. It seems strange to have such a limit.

There is a good reason to HAVE the limit; these settings are there to stop spambots from registering; so if you have no limit, and 90k spambots register in a year, and you're waiting with no limit for them to approve themselves, you'll end up with one hell of a mess to go through...

OK I see. But 24 hours is certainly not enough. Why not allow us to set what we see fit, or at least give us an option for much longer.

It can easily be done. Probably just didn't have enough requests for the change. If people want it I'm sure it can be coded into the program pretty easy.

i do see it as a really good feature to allow it set on a specific scale (1 day, 2 days, 4 days, 7 days); keep in mind that if you don't want it on you can always turn off the email validation option.

But I do want the email validation option.
I just don't want to lose people because it is too short.... just lost another person in the last day (probably) because of it.

I would like to see it 72 or 96 hours, with a reminder email sent each 24 hours.

Well it can be done but resending, tracking is a bit more coding involved than just a time period mod.

Come on people give your feedback now if you want change - the squeaky wheel gets the grease they say ;\)
