Many people use internet at work but not at home so if they register on a Friday and then cannot read emails till Monday they are SOL on that 24 hour limit

Also as screwed up as cyberspace is many times email servers get backed up or hosed thus emails get delayed so 24 hours and with worldwide timezones is too short of a timeframe.
