Is there a way I can increase the limit of characters for the hobbies section in the profile?

You'd need to alter the database and the changebasic/editbasic scripts as well. The databaes has the USER_HOBBIES field set to a varchar(200). You'd need to alter that to be a text field if you want to store more. You'd also need to edit the 2 mentioned scripts to allow for more characters.
