Is there a "proper" procedure to follow when I am moving my Ubb7 from an old to a new server? Or should I just copy over all the files, and duplicate the database?

Okay, I found a thread about this at here

Mods, please delete this topic.

1. Dump the database
2. Download your files.
3. Update your includes/config.inc.php file to the new information on the new server.
4. Upload your files to the new server.
5. Open your CP on the new server for your ubb and go to the permission checker and update the chmods on files accordingly

I did all that, but now things are not working. The shout box is there, but won't post. Tried sending a PM and it didn't work. I can edit a post, but not create one... Help me please???

Permissions on your files and directories ?

They are showing okay within the CP

The cp does not check all files and folders,
your need to check the install documentation again.

typicaly 777 folders
666 files.

The install shows all passing

Apart from the advice i'm offering, i cant help.

I would until more help comes along,
try checking the permissions manually.

I do know that not all directories are covered by
the cp permissions checker. And i not sure about the istaller.

But checking the permissions i guess is going to be the first thing to check.

Can you check your log file?
You have a Admin and Mysql Log File?

Set these up if you havnt via the cp and hopefully
they may offer more help.

I have now set them both up...
