Can someone help me solve a members problem:

 Quote:

I've just started using a different computer (better than the one I usually use)and it's my first time on the new site.
My problem: I have NO background colors at all-just plain white, and I have no borders, no reply boxes, nothing. Just blue colored text. Needless to say, this makes reading the threads very difficult.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I've used this computer for 'our site' before, but not recently, with absolutely no problems.
P.S. I DO have boxes at the top of the page for the various places you can visit on 'here', as well as the ad 'banner', both with the black backgrounds; other than that, just free-form, so to speak.

I am using IE 6.
Another piece of the puzzle which confuses me even more:
Any other section of 'this site' that I click on shows up perfectly! I went to "walkthroughs" and clicked on a game and all was well.
It appears it's only the forums that I have problems with.
I tried coming on through the IE rather than through the AOL IE, same thing.
I hate to change any settings, because everything else is fine, and it USED to work just fine on this computer before the move was made.

As it is now, trying to read the replies is very difficult, since there are no borders or shading. I do get the avatars of the respondents, though.

The ones that are mentioned that shows are non forum pages and are html links added in the forum CP Display Options - html inserts.

"alternative colored" text, or underlined text is a sure fire sign of crappy html usage; likely you created a link somewhere in your header.tpl file or one of your islands and didn't use the ending </a>...

Some others have reported long secs of seeing a white page and a slow appearance of the forum colors and frames.

Could this be the problem; found in the source:
 Code:
 <style type="text/css">
.popup_menu a,
.popup_menu label { display: block; padding: 2px; cursor: pointer; }
.ubbcode-pre {
	font-family: monospace;
	white-space: pre;
}
pre {
margin: 0px;
}
</style>

Would pop up blockers cause the white frame the member is seeing?

Do you have the shout box enabled?
If you do get feedback with it turned off. (relative to performance issues)

Again if this is only one person reporting this its very likely that its local to them and no one else.

Ive spent hours in the past, resolving a image problem
with a member using FF.
It turned out after we were all informed we were wrong
by this person a corrupt firewall install.

Is it just the one member or others too?

No, just this one so far has told me she is getting the white page and blue text.
I had 4-5 tell me of long white page first before getting the regular forum format.

I will ask her if her about her security set up?

I'm not saying it is a security issue with her machine,
but there is somthing on her machine.

She could be on dial up and a slow connection?

Ask her if she has access to a second machine on the same
connection and see if it continues.

Unfortunately you may have to leave her to sort this
one out on her own.

Just to check she has cleared her cookies from her
machine and cleared all browser temp file?
