But now i like the design and features of this UBB.threads.
So what will i need to do to take this any further? standard license is $229. With this purchase is that everything i need to get this up and going? Do I need to purchase my own server too?

Im not too clued up on this \:o

You dont need a FULL Server but you will need a web host
that you can install the forum software.

The design you see now is "Out the Box"
so this would be your default skin, there are more
in the styles forum.

You need to sort webhosting first ;\)
Then you can purchase a licence and install the software.

When you purchase a licence you can access
the download area ;\)

Hope that helps a little

Okay i can say stay away from 1&1
as they limit your database size to 100mb,
not a problem now, but in the future it can be.

That's up to you to decide as its a pain in the backside
later down the line.

100mb is a good year and a bits worth of posts.

Err i'm trying to think ?

Are you familiar with scripts and uploading via FTP? Are you also aware that the forum software isn't like an application that you download and click "run"? Just trying to get some idea of your "clued up"ness.

When you're looking at hosting packages make sure they meet the requirements to run UBBt: http://www.ubbcentral.com/doc_install.php#pre

Step one would be to buy a domain name, this would be the address users go to to reach your site.

Step two would be to rent server space at a webhost; there are millions of them out there.

Step three would be to purchase a UBB license.

Step four would be to either hire a developer to do your web presance (uploading your ubb files and configuring things, doing any website type maintenance, do styling on your forum (all of which i do :hint hint:))

Then from here you should have a working site ;)...

Also, when searching for webhosts you can use a 3rd party site which has no real affiliations to them to check previous user reviews; one of which would be http://www.webhostingtalk.com
