I cannot get importer to work.

In installed the V7 all went OK,

Moved the 2 files that came with the import zip file and changed the one place in each with my domain.
Moved the import file to its directory

Before closing the UBB CLassic I had it tell me where all the paths were. which was
Absolute Paths
Path to the CGI Directory: /home/teamzron/public_html/cgi-bin
Path to the NonCGI Directory: /home/teamzron/public_html/ubb
Path to the Members Directory: /home/teamzron/public_html/cgi-bin/Members
Path to the Variables Directory: /home/teamzron/public_html/cgi-bin

URL to the CGI Directory: http://teamzr1.com/cgi-bin
URL to the NonCGI Directory: http://teamzr1.com/ubb

run the importer, pasted the links from above and get this

Checking... You entered the wrong path to the members directory

No matter if I on purpose give a wrong path for the 1st path line it time it still reports Members has wrong path

What is the problem ?

Thanks,

Humm, odd; are the directories here set the same as they are in classic?

Just a thought....

It's not a lowercase 'M' on members is it?

No I checked and it is uppercase M for Members.
Even if another path line is left empty once importer starts it still gives error about members directory so that path may not even be the cause of failure.

Anyone else with some ideas for I have tried taking /home/ out of the path to even using my domain name at start of paths and get the same error as soon as I click the icon after paths are entered

What it looks for is the memberlist.cgi file in the Members directory to make sure that you've entered the proper path. Is this a classic 6.7 board your importing from?

The 2 files that come with importer zip file where are they supposted to be installed ?
I assumed it was into the cgi-bin after I renamed the 2 files of same name used with V6.7

I assume the importer file goes into the import directory of the new V7 subdirectory.

The ultimatebb.cgi file goes into the cgi-bin directory. The ultimatebb.php file goes into the normal ubb directory. But those should be done after the import is finished.

The easiest way to make sure you have the proper paths is download the vars_config.cgi file from your cgi-bin. That has the exact paths you'll need to enter during the import.

You can also take a look in your Members directory and make sure there is a memberlist.cgi file.

Rick there is no docs as to this process that I could find.
All that the importer zip I downloaded has is one small doc saying to rename the URL.
I assume they were moved BEFORE the import was to be used so would that cause import to fail ?

I did download the var_config and it matches what paths I used

%vars_config = (
q!AdminLogging! => q!YES!,
q!BBName! => q!Team ZR-1 Corvette Racers!,
q!CGIPath! => q!/home/teamzron/public_html/cgi-bin!,
q!CGIURL! => q!http://teamzr1.com/cgi-bin!,
q!CachePath! => q!/home/teamzron/public_html/ubb/cache-5655V2WY!,
q!Cookie_Number! => q!2453634.1457!,
q!EnableAccel! => q!YES!,
q!MaxMemFields! => q!43!,
q!MembersPath! => q!/home/teamzron/public_html/cgi-bin/Members!,
q!NonCGIPath! => q!/home/teamzron/public_html/ubb!,
q!NonCGIURL! => q!http://teamzr1.com/ubb!,
q!VariablesPath! => q!/home/teamzron/public_html/cgi-bin!,
q!cache_pw! => q!5655V2WY!,
);

1;

I checked and there is a memberlist.cgi ( older V6.7.2 works so much have proper files)

I got it, it was due to the 2 files within importer zip being moved in before the importer was used.
Someone should add text to doc that comes with that zip downloaded to tell people that

Now stupid question is what URL is for the admin program ?

Thanks

That shouldn't cause it to fail. You may want to check and see if your host has your php configuration locked down. If they are using something like open_basedir restrictions it could be locking php and not allowing it to read from other directories.

Can anyone tell me what file and where it is to get to the admin page ?

If I use the old path and cp.cgi it brings up the old V6.7 classic admin page

The import was done, the 2 files for import were moved and the new V7 is now seen.

When I click on control panel at top I get
http://teamzr1.com/ubbthreads/admin/index.php

I do not find a admin sub-directory in ubbthreads directory

Only get :

FIle not found
I assume that is how to get to admin page ?

Basically you just need to login to your new UBB.threads board. Once you login, you'll see a link to the Control Panel in the navigation bar.

OK found that, for some reason FTP failed when the ubbthreads folder was uploaded to host and never showed any error but I found admin folder on PC and moved it

FYI, there are "upgrade" and "install" threads in the "how do I" forum; though after the fact since you're up and running now.

Curiosity here; please post the path to your members directory as you're inserting it.

Can you look in that path and verify that you're seeing a memberlist.cgi file? Also, it's possible that your host has safe mode enabled and it can't actually read that directory. So, if you verify that memberlist.cgi is there, then I'd check with your host to find out if safe mode is enabled.

I edited the script and removed the check for the Members Dir...
Unfortunately it just says the same for the next dir...

There is definitely and issue like you said that the server isn't allowing the directory browsing or access for the import...

Safemode in php is off as shown above with the phpinfo... any further ideas... did I miss something?

At this point it's really hard to say. To really help we'd probably need a support ticket with ftp info to take a look at what's going on.

Looks like Rick Sorted this one out...

Open_Base Dir wouldn't let the importer view directories not in the web root... thus the CGI-bin directory couldn't be seen by the script
...

copied the cgi-bin folders over to a new directory on the same server and it ran no problem.

Just one hitch now is the conversion seems to think there is no old forums (Probably because there are no categories) so it shows them in the active but not in the forums list...
