In addition to member titles getting reset (see thread from yesterday) I'm also seeing *both* USER_TITLE and USER_CUSTOM_TITLE being displayed after going to a profile that had been reset and trying to set a new title.

The double membertitle stuff is a feature. Which I don't like too b.t.w.

I applied a hack that you can find at UBBDev that only shows the post based membertitle if no custom title has been set.

Okay I'll look at this code later tonight to see what it does or how it works.

I'm hoping that it will at least show me which page is doing it so I can DISABLE the whole thing if I don't like one of these hacks.

Rick - note: 7.3 PLEASE fix it, or restore it back to 6.x thread days. I'm having to run a query to restore titles every day now it seems. Thanks.

I believe the approved fix is as the hack does, if the custom field is set it uses that vs the postcount.

Well as explained elsewhere I don't like that method either. I want it the way it was before. If I manually set it it stayed that way and did not change with post count

1. I want to be able to set the default TITLE on a Per User basis and when set manually it will not change till I change it.

2. If not set manually then allow the post count to change it.

3. Custom Title (I don't care for but I'm sure some do by now) should be similar to #1 meaning that once set nothing will change it except an Administrator manually changing it again, or a choice to allow a user to be able to do it whenever they want.

These other methods are just not adequate (IMHO) ie. these Titles seem to mean a lot to some peopole so when the method of how they operate is changed it can be disturbing to users.

Go to work and just randomly change people's titles and see what a bunch of pissed off people you have in no time. Same thing here only it's in virtual

As mentioned I don't care for the custom title but I'm sure others do so guessing I would say BOTH

I know Rick plans on giving us the option to display both or one. I don't remember if he said on a per user basis, but I do like that idea.

NT, as you described you WANT it is the way I was saying it'd be by default; whereby IF the custom is set, it'll always show the custom (and not show the postcount) unless you tell it you want it another way (via the option in the cp); I however am not sure when this will see the light of day; likely 7.3

Just want to say Thanks guys.

This mod by SirDude and blaaskaak works just fine on my site. I'm happy with it.

The issue appears to be that if you want BOTH Default and Custom titles to show then this mod won't work for you. For me I just want the one Default to show and it works great.

Currently the code in 7.2.2 is less than adequate for me and I had to keep manually updating the database each day to fix it.

Doing these fixes as shown by SirDude and blaaskaak will restore it back to they way it used to work in 6.x (at least as I recall it working)

Thanks again guys
