I'm having some issues with my installation, and my host tells me that it is because there is nothing on the root directory. This is true. The only purpose of the domain is the forum, and I installed to a sub-directory of "forums." I now need to move everything to the root. I've done that. Also, per Rick's instructions I changed the config.inc.php file so that the full URL is http://littlepilgrimsforums.com and the base URL to '/'. Now the forum is located on the root, but if you go there by the link above, you'll see that no style is associated. In addition, if I click "control panel" I get a browser error that states "Safari can't open the page “http://admin/index.php” because it can’t find the server “admin”." There must be other settings to adjust? I know that I could probably scrap everything and install from scratch to the root but I'm afraid of losing the work I've done the last 2 days. Any advice?

Be sure you updated all PATHS in the file to be your document root (vs /forums)

Your paths area should look something like:
'FULL_URL' => 'http://yoursite.tld',
'BASE_URL' => '',
'FULL_PATH' => '/home/youruseraccount/public_html',
'SESSION_PATH' => '/home/youruseraccount/public_html/sessions',

I think I'm okay now. Also in that directory was a full_path and session_path variable. I removed the "/forums" subdirectory from each, and things seem cool.

Question on the BASE_URL setting. I set to 'http://yoursite.tld' rather than the '/' - as all seems to be working now I'm reluctant to change to '/'. But, is there a good reason to do so?

it shouldn't have a / after the domain name

Sorry. What I meant was that my original instructions from Rick said to have BASE_URL setting to '/' (with no web address). I entered the full URL of 'http://mydomain.com/' as the BASE_URL setting. Should I change it to only be '/' ?

Another issue with the move. The left and right columns of the portal are not being displayed now, though the style is there. Is there other configurations anyware related to the portal that might have the old '/forums' sub directory that I must update?

Nevermind. Somehow I missed a "cache" and "cache_builders" folder from the "Forums" folder. I moved these to the root and all is well. This particularly topic is officially cooked...

Again, full URL should not have a trailing /, it should simply be:
'FULL_URL' => 'http://yoursite.tld',

As for the left/right columns, you have to enable them in the CP in portal settings.

You'll also generally want to clear your cache after a config change.
