so the 6.1 to 6.2 altertable has been running for over an hour now and it's still not through, the browser is still working (php.ini allows insane execution times).
Changes were made, but I guess it's stuck somewhere in the middle, both 6.1 and 6.2 report SQL gibberish.

This is a fast dedicated server which isn't really busy with anything else, the database is about 400 MB big.

It could take quite a while due to the number of alterations done, especially some of the new indexes, but I'm not sure that it should take THAT long.

Do you have access to mysqladmin? If so you can do

mysqadmin processlist from the command prompt and this will tell you what, if any, queries are currently being executed.

I took a look at the running processes, it was really still running.
and it's through now <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" />
over half a million posts, around 150.000 PM's, but it finally made it ...

I think everyone should be aware that it will take a while. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

I've got 40,000 + posts and 7000+ members, and a dedicated server as well. I think it worked for a good 30 -40 minutes before anything looked like it was happening.

Wow, that's alot of info to process <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="images/icons/smile.gif" /> Should probably split the altertable up into some smaller steps.
