yes the config is set to cookies not sessions.

the url of the site is an IP as I am tryin gto get everything functioning before goin live.

Ok, what it looks like is you have a whole bunch of blank lines after the closing php tag ?> in your config file. PHP treats this as header info so it can't set the cookie. You need to make sure there are no blank lines or spaces after the cloosing php tag in your config.inc.php file.

I have opend up the config file in BBEdit and looked for the spaces you mentioned but can't find any. the cursor end right at ?>

I am uploading the config file via ftp client Interarchy 5.0.1 for MAC. as ASCI

still no luck loggin in :/

Now it looks like it's coming from mysql.inc.php. The error when I try to login says headers already sent at line 255, but there are only 127 lines to the distributed mysql.inc.php file.

Not sure. It looks like however the files are getting uploaded they are getting blank lines added to the end of them. There are only 4 files that this is really important:

ubbt.inc.php
theme.inc.php
config.inc.php
mysql.inc.php

If i again download the UBB and try to upload only
ubbt.inc.php
theme.inc.php
config.inc.php
mysql.inc.php

will that possibly fix the problem ..assumin gthe spaces are gone

ok, looks like the interarchy program is having problems . i used the new Fetch FTP client and all seems to work fine.

I am not sure why Interarchy adds those spaces but there you have it. For mac users beware of interchy 5.0.1
