It would be nice to have the ability to exempt certain forums and the PM system from the censor feature.

For example, we have a moderators forum which we discuss issues and at times we would be discussing "terms" used by members, if we enable the censor feature our discussion would get "sanitized" by the censor feature.

Also, why apply the censor feature to PM's, they are after all "Private Messages", having an option to exclude PM's via the CP would be nice.

I just tell mods to use the quote/quick quote option as it shows the words uncensored until displayed.

Hmmm, interesting on the quote thing.

But my reasoning still stands, as another example...

say you have an adult section of a "family" site (for instance) and in that adult section you had the "dirty joke" forum and only allowed verified adult members access (let's forget the logistics of verification for sake of argument) if you apply censor words in the CP your dirty jokes wouldn't be so dirty! grin

This could be an extension of the forum permissions system at least for the forum level.

The censoring of PM is unnecessary IMO.

I agree w/ Island Piper. It would also result in less processing...

I just got a complaint on my system that PMs are censored. I would also like to see the censor function disable-able on PMs.

Censoring in PMs is very useful in preventing spambots and people from using the PM system to send spam messages with specific URLs in the PMs.

Good point.

I guess it would be good to allow PMs to have their own independent censor list. That would make my users happy.

I hope this is a useful suggestion.
