I installed Windows XP w/all updates,
IIS 5.1 (and confirmed web server working),
MySQL 3.23.49-windows (and appears to work),
PHP 4.1.2 win32 (and appears to work).

I installed the UBBthreads demo, and I get hundreds
of warnings from the createtable.php, I tried to fix
a few of them (which look like apparent typos with
missing single quotes). Attachements are disabled,

Visit the newuser script to create your main admin user. Be sure to choose this name and email carefully as this will be your permanent main administrator.

Ignoring the warnings, I followed the link for newuser and added an admin account. I received the email with password, but when I tried to login using it, I just get (in addition to more warnings), username/password not found. It is possible that actualy errors are mixed in somewhere in all those warnings.

I added "error_reporting(E_ERROR);" to the
main.inc.php in order to turn off the warnings.

Now I can see the create_table was not working:

Any suggestions where to look? Must be the connection to mysql database isn't working?

You'll want to check your config file and look at the database settings. It looks like you might have an incorrect setting for $config['dbname']

the dbname matches the mysqladmin output
listing of databases.
(and turning off warnings has apparently hidden
some previous error that might have helped).

Even though I get this warning:

Warning: Undefined property: dbh in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\ubbthreads\mysql.inc.php on line 32

I never see an error for connecting to the database!
In other words, it must be able to connect (because it succeeds the test within the connect), but the connection is lost somehow?

apparently there was a case mismatch in the database name. (the mysql_select_db never returned an error).

This doesn't explain why you are using a depricated syntax in most of your scripts, requiring that I turn off all warnings.
