Anyone know of a decent parts supplier in the United States where I can buy 1 Unit rackmount Custom Server parts like CPU cooling systems and heat sinks with fans?

I hate buying from over sea's as it takes forever to get the stuff and I'm getting tired of paying the import tax.

I currently need a copper heat sink with fan for a Socket 755 3.8 Ghz CPU but will need other parts in the near future.

I really do not want to pay a high price for this stuff but recently the shipping is like $50 per item to buy over seas.

More like 1U CPU Copper heat sinks with fans, Power supplies, slim line CD's, Adapters for CD's, internal cooling fans, and such.

I take blank cases and modify them and fit all the components into the case then load the operating system on to the server as ready to go out of the box.

I make them up pretty much to order or stock items to sell at a later time.

My Beagle World site is running on one of my smaller built servers. That has a 1.2 Ghz AMD, 160 Gig HDD, Slimline CD, Air Filter, 2 NIC's, and a 1 Gig of Ram installed running Blue Quartz CentOS Linux.

Just curious why only a 400w PSU and 1GB RAM? Maybe you don't need more than that for what you're doing, but I wouldn't use anything less than a 500w PSU in a home PC at this point, let alone a server (IMHO)

There is really no resource draw and the only type display and such is generally command line telnet on the head. pretty much designed to be operated by remote through Telnet or the Browser interface.

I have servers running in 100 Watt power supplies as they are just a motherboard, HDD, Power supply, and case with no head.

Servers generally do not use much resources and there is no GUI or a bunch of cards drawing tons of power. Graphics, Accessories, and Windows chews up the resources like crazy as well as the power.

HAHAHAHA, No.

Half of my servers don't even have a head.

These are designed to just whip out pages instantly or create the parsed page and get them out as quickly as they can to the users requesting web content from sites and such.

Long time no chat Dave. Hope all has been well with you over the past few years.

Good points there. But since RAM is almost free at this point, I'd've maxed it out if I were doing it. I'm all for over-kill! laugh wink
