7.3 has all these new permissions going on, which is great, but I am wary of what happens when I upgrade.

Is there any documentation or explanation somewhere how things get brought over re: permissions when I upgrade from 7.2.2 to 7.3?

1 example... on our forums we have stopped new members (for a while now) from using PMs. Will that be brought over?

The only rule that it did not carry over for me was inline adverts. Everything else was copied over.

However I did go through and check everything creating new rules and permissions as I went.

OK well I am reassured.

I am planning on a full day for the upgrade. I know the actual upgrade doesn't take long, but for checking etc. Also getting a test forum up to how I like it looking as a reference.

Sorry, specific question.... all my current members - what group do they get put into when I do the upgrade??

Your current users will still remain in the Users group. It gets a new number, but it's still the User's group.

One thing on the upgrade, some servers, the default group for new users gets unchecked, so after the upgrade is finished, go into the registration settings and make sure that Users is checked for the default group.
