Is there a way for me to stop users from choosing to view the site in invisible-mode?

Incidentally I would like to see this as a group option, so that only particular groups are allowed to remain invisible. Perhaps admins / paying group, so it is a benefit rather than a right.

Hi Ian, thanks for that but I do not have that option there! tongue

[before posting I did look everywhere but could not see an option to turn it off]

(I am running version 7.2.2, so perhaps it is an option that is only available on later versions?)

I'd agree with that - allow Admin and Mods (and selected groups) to remain invisible but keep the standard users from opting out.

Okay - sorry, was referring to 7.3. Can't remember if it was an option or not in earlier versions.

Another reason for an upgrade? wink

BTW - what is your site? (and put your location in your profile - us Brits like to know roughly where others are wink )

My plan is to upgrade but it would be great to know when it was added as I cannot see the option on 7.2.2

As for my profile, now updated! smile

Thanks Ian - I created the site when I bought a Morgan Aero 8 as there were only resources for the traditional wooden frame Morgans.

Despite the external aesthetics, the Aero 8 is a very modern car, all the way down to the 4.8 litre BMW supplied V8. This was what made me decide to buy one but also the reason many traditional Morgan enthusiasts don't embrace the new car.

Being invisible is something that most users like; the incentive to them is privacy. However this means that the number of actual people who appear to be online is lower than it really is. You can't incentives your users not to go invisible to help attract new members, because they don't care. But by installing this hack you have given users a clear incentive to not be invisible. And the result of that is that more users appear to be online, and that helps to convert new users as they see how active a forum really is.
