I would like to get rid of the calendar on my site. I'm on 7.3.1 now but I remember being able to do this in previous versions. I would appreciate it very much if someone replied with a simple solution. Thanks.

If its on your islands (either column) Go to portal layout in your cp and set the calendar to hide.

Basically, just edit the calendar link out of header.tpl in the templates/default directory then don't enable the calendar islands and it'll basically stay hidden. you can ensure it's closed to everyone (but admins) by editing the script/calendar file and setting the admin line to 1 from 0

Gizmo,
I'm sorry to bother you with this, but I'm a newbie and I'll need "step by step" directions here. I don't know what you mean by "edit the calendar link out of header.tpl"

Also, when you said:

, is that just another solution, or is that the final step?

Open the file "header.tpl" in notepad, delete the section mentioning the calendar; can't be much easier, just use the find option to locate the line.

Every script file has 3 lines that you can adjust permissions on, you can set it admin only and mod only (or both together); it was posted there simply as an additional step to ensure users cannot use the calendar.

Thanks Gizmo. I was able to delete that line thereby removing the calendar option on the top without a hitch.

Question: what happens if I don't adjust the permissions on that calendar file as you suggested? I'm only reticent as: (1) I'm not confident with code stuff; and (2) I'd like to keep everything as original as possible so as to minimize risk to possible corruption of the board.
