Hi everyone,

I have just moved my forum to another server that is running Linux and my members are reporting that they are unable to upload their own avatar.

I noticed that mine was missing as well so I tried to upload mine after resetting the pixels to 120 x 120 and the size to 30000000 and I still am unable to upload the avatar.

The size of the avatar that I am uploading is 2.36kb I have checked the Avatar upload directory and it has passed in the control panel. Also checked the permissions which are set correctly.

Can anyone help or is this a bug with 7.3.1

Just a stab in the dark here, but have you...

1) checked to see if there are files in the avatar directory?

2) checked the perms on those files (0666)

3) since moving from Win to Nix, dbl check the file names and be sure your case is correct, ie; FiLeNaMe.JpG will need to be just that on Nix but windows will ignore upper or lower case and treat it as the same.

Are you getting an error when trying to upload a new avatar?

Thanks for your advice Island Piper but Sirdude came to the rescue and fixed my problem in a few minutes.

What great support all members give to others here and I really appreciate the fantastic advice.

might as well share the fix smile

the directory was setup properly, but the URL to that directory wasn't right.

Ooof, I did that too with file attachments recently. I had dropped the .com from our domain, it was a puzzler for a while until I slowed down and really looked at what I had in the attachment URL field.
