SirDude was kind enough to help me fix a large problem on my forum and he also advised me on how to back up.

I noticed there are several ways to back up (through PHPmyadmin, thrugh my web host, or through the control panel on the forum). SirDude recommended using PHPmyadmin.

However, once I got into PHPmyadmin, and am trying to "dump" the tables (I guess this means "back up"), I am faced with a barrage of choices...and I'm not quite sure how to proceed.

Here is a screnshot with my choices:

Any advice? Which boxes to check and which drop-down menus to choose?

Thanks everyone,

Bryan

everything's good to go..

make sure you do 'completed inserts' and 'extended inserts'

then just click the 'save as file' and 'gzipped' radio button and voila.

you have a very small (relatively) DB, but i still recommend that you do it as follows:

1) ubbt_POSTS only
2) all but ubbt_POSTS

so you end up with 2 files..

good luck smile

Hej

If you do a back-up of tables with phpmyadmin, do as follow:
  • Choose 'export' tab
  • select 'All' (and all your tables will be marked)
  • Add checkbox 'Add DROP TABLE'
  • Add checkbox 'Save as file'
  • hit 'go' button and select a destination to save your back-up.

To do an import(dump) of back-up with phpmyadmin, do as follow:
  • Choose 'SQL' tab
  • Fill in 'Location of the text file:'
  • hit 'go' button

If you wants to preview your back-up before dumping, mark 'Show this query here again' checkbox, and hit 'go' button
