I have a site in which the default user group on registration *should* be 'users', but that usergroup doesn't show up at all in the screen. In checking the config file there was no entry for

'DEFAULT_USER_GROUPS' =>

I entered '5', manually, but the 'users' usergroup doesn't show up in the admin screen, all other usergroups do.

My personal site didn't have any usergroups selected either, but at least the 'users' usergroup showed up.

Any ideas?

yes, i have seen upgraded sites where the names of the groups didn't get populated after the upgrade.

dunno what the reason was, but i ended up manually going in with phpMyAdmin, looking at the group number and putting the appropriate name in..

this occurred for GlobalModerators (2), Users (4), Guests (5) that i recall..

Definitely want to take a look at the ubbt_GROUPS table with phpmyadmin or just doing a query. Make sure that Guests is group 5, and that GROUP_IS_DISABLED is set to 0.

OK to update usergroup #'s on the fly? Looks like it skipped usergroup # 3 for some reason and made moderators # 4, users # 5 and guests #6.

I have no idea how long they've been like that, they've run threads 6.something, 7.1, 7.2 and now 7.3
