I downloaded, unzipped, uploaded and set permissions on ubb threads, but when I ran the install.php I couldn't go beyond step 1. All of my directories passed the permissions test except three: Sessions, Template/Compile and Cache all failed. I uploaded them all the same, I used CHMOD all the same on them, and yet they failed. I set permissions again, but still they failed. I deleted them from my server and then reuploaded them to my server and set the permissions and they still failed.
In the FTP program, I can see that they have the proper permission designations, but no matter what when I hit "check again" I get the same three listed as failed. I'm stumped as to why only those three directories fail. Any ideas?
Yes, I have those permissions set to 777. Still show failed despite showing set right when I'm looking at the at the FTP site. And only those three for some reason. The rest all are good.

Ah, that's cool mate
Please don't forget to restore the permissions to less than 777, now that it's ok.
I don't think it's that important, but I've been caught out by those Turkish SkriptKiddies.
They use automated scripts (on shared servers) to deface index.htm/html/php etc files that are set to 777.
Basically, a script that was written by someone (a million times more clever than they will ever be) would be used to overwrite an index.htm file - to make it look like they can 'HACK'.
They think it's terribly clever to deface someones website using technology that they are too stupid to write themsleves.
