Had a server crash yesterday. Took a while to get it back up. Now, no one can register because they can't get past CAPTCHA. No image appears. Here's a link:

In my Control Panel, under Reg Settings, I get this:

CAPTCHA verification? Disabled
It appears you do not have access to GD2 or Imagemagick.

When I go to the pull down menu, it does not give me an "Enable" option. Disabled is all that appears.

My server admins say:

Rick, are you sure that your script it's ok? Maybe the path to the binary it's wrong? Because both requirements are met, gd and ImageMagick, here is an example of your current php settings http://24hourcampfire.com/info.php , you can see there that gd it's enabled


Guys, people have been registering for 8 years, and all of a sudden, since the crash yesterday, no one can get past CAPTCHA. Can you help?

You might check your config file and manually set the option to off/disabled.

WHere can I find that config file? In admin?

By the way, I'm running 7.1

All I could find was a config in includes, and the only reference to CAPTCHA was:

'CAPTCHA' => 'gd',

What should I do? Change gd to "disable"

Just change it to:

'CAPTCHA' => '',

That will disable it. As for it not working. GD2 also relies on FreeType. Under GD you should see:

FreeType Support enabled

But looking at your phpinfo page it doesn't appear you have it.
