OK, I know I saw the character size/length for custom titles somewhere in control panel, but darned if I know where I saw it. It seemed like it was set to 100 and I wanted to set it to something smaller. but for the life of me I can't find it again.

CP > Forums > Group Management > (select the group you want i.e. Users) > Edit Permissions: Site > 4th column down = Maximum length of signatures.

Thanks, yes, I have them set so they can create their own custom titles and I can find the signature length part, that's no problem. What I need to find out is where the length of the custom title can be set. It seems like I saw it once. It was set to 100 characters, I believe, but I can't find it again.

yes.. Site permissions.. 'Can set custom title' -- the number you put in there is the max length for that particular group you are editting..



or SHOULD BE, since i pointed it out as a bug.. i believe Rick fix0red this (7.4?)

yes, but i'm just not sure WHEN rick fixed that buglet.. i know i posted it in a list of buglets... and believe it's deffo in 7.4..

OK, I looked in my profile and it says this: "Custom Title (100 characters max)" even after I set the "can set a custom title" to "30". So I don't know where to change it on 7.3.1 and as an experiment I typed in a 50 character title and it went through with no problem, so I need to find a way to set it at 30, or just disable custom titles. But thanks for trying to help, I appreciate it.

And let me edit to add that it did seem like there was a box early one when I was setting things up that had that "100" somewhere, but I just can't find it again. I'd think "profile settings/member titles" would be the right place, but I'm mot seeing it there.

that's exactly where you WILL be able to set it.. so this indicates that it's NOT in 7.3.1

my guess is rick did the buglets for 7.4
