New install of 7.3.1. Members complaining shoutbox isn't working for them. Fine for me in Firefox 3 in all respects. In IE7, the box is empty. I can post into it, but nothing appears in IE. It freezes with "Sending..." and nothing appears. The posts I make in IE do appear in Firefox, so something isn't rendering right in IE.

I found mentions of domain issues, but that shouldn't be a browser matter.

Saludos, Mig

Someone posted some funky characters, which is breaking it in IE. This is something we've had to address in 7.4. Both Kirsh and Pircalert posted the funky ones.

They show ok in Firefox, it can handle it. But IE barfs. If you delete that shout and the one after it, it will show ok.

Like I said. 7.4 will fix this. Just posted that same comment here in the shoutbox to test under both IE and Firefox.

OK, thanks. Deleted those and it's working. Any way to protect the box from this effect?

Just broke it with Indian & Thai. So I guess any of the Sanskrit and Pali derivatives will do this? That's a large part of the Asean region.

I'll need to test that on my devel box and see if I can figure out why it doesn't like it.

Edit: Found and fixed for final. It actually worked fine when the charset was set to utf-8, but still breaking under iso-8859-1.
