Hi there,
is "UBBThreads, Version 5" compatible with PHP5?

If not, is there an opportunity to upgrade?

Is it possible export the Data from Version 5, install Version 7 and import the data?

Thanks for your help.

Version 5? I assume you mean classic not threads. Yes you can upgrade but you will need to make it in two steps. Upgrade to classic 6.x ,Then to ubbthreads. You will need to renew the license to get access to the member area to download them.
You can start here for upgrades from older products Documentation

Sorry I guess I did not read your post completly.
It sounds like you have classic ver5 not ubbthreads.
If it is indeed classic then it does not use mysql or php but was designed for perl.

Go to the bottom of your forum and there should be a line that states what flavor and version you have.
Or if you wish add the url to your site if you have a open forum.

It is indeed UbbThreads 5.5.1 not UbbClassic.

Is it compatible with php 5 and mysql 4 or greater?

Or is there no other way than updating/upgrading it?

Someone other than me will have to answer that question with that version. I have never used it.

No, UBB.threads 5 was actually written before PHP5 was available and has various code in it that is not compatible with PHP5.

You can upgrade from version 5 to 7, but there is not a way to make version 5 of .threads compatible with version 5 of php. There may also be issues running .threads 5 on new versions of MySQL too.

Just curious but wasn't threads ver5.x prior to infopop?
And how would he go about upgrading since it is not in the documentation?

5.4 was the first version of UBB.threads. Prior to that it was WWWthreads. If it's earlier than 5.2 then it was Perl. All of the old versions included an upgrading doc with the software, so they'd just need to follow those instructions to get up to version 5.4, at which point the 6.5.5 version has everything they need to get upgraded at that point to prepare for the import.

It's a lot of upgrade steps, but definitely possible wink
