Hi all,

Since upgrading from 7.3.1 to 7.4 I have been having issues and the members of my forum are complaining. Note we are on a linux server and the mysql data base version is 5.x

I have to keep clearing the cache in order for the islands to update with the correct information.

Here is the complaints that I am getting:

1. cannot log out from the site and can't refresh cookies
2. my posts don't appear in new topics
3. post count incorrect
4. will not show me as being online
5. showing people as being online that aren't
6. If you check my profile, you will see that I can't have a custom title as it only allows me 1 (one) character max!!
help please.
Maybe it's a Version 7.4 glitch?
Thanks for your patience, I would like to get it happening correctly
BTW. I am using Firefox 3.

Well, that's something that happened to me also and I forgot to report it here.

Control panel > Site Permissions > Can set a Custom Title.

Is not actually an on/off setting, it also defines the maximum length of the custom title. so put 0 in for no permission, and the actual max length if you do have permission to do that in that group. Language file on that one kinda has to be updated I think.

As for your other issues, I would really do a thorough cleanup of your cookies. Not just let ubb clean them, but really remove them from your harddisk so you are sure they are gonzo.

also, you might want to remove everything from the /cache directory except for the index.html and clear the cache from within the control panel.

blaaskaak,

Thanks mate but I tried all that twice and no go. As to the custom title I became the member and it told me the title was too long (he is a global moderator) but when I do it as the admin I don't have issues.

Maybe something with directory/file permissions messed up?

Don't know, everything works here, just the max custom title thingy with 1 character was familiair here.

The rest I said was standard "did you turn if off and on again"-IT talk smile

blaaskaak,

I think that I have found the problem with the updating in this list of problems with members:

1. cannot log out from the site and can't refresh cookies
2. posts don't appear in new topics
3. post count incorrect
4. will not show me as being online
5. showing people as being online that aren't

It appears to be with the Featured Members Island as I had it set to '120' days and after resting it to '0' everything above has gone back to normal.

Maybe Rick should have a look at it because it could be a bug in the settings.

Since I changed it back to '0' all the islands are updating correctly i.e Newest Topic, Who's online and Topic replies.

I have not tried any other setting as far as days go other than '120'. I have the cache time set to 1 min on all the above islands but can't see how that would affect them as it did not in the past.

Gizmo,

Tried changing to 365 days and again locked up the islands and the only way is to clear the cache in the control panel each time in order to get things to work again.

As I don't have the time to keep clearing the cache every few minutes it has to be something to do with the program or because I am on a linux server.

Bruce, can you open up a support ticket for me with FTP info and admin info? I'd like to see why this is happening and see if it's something we can fix in the stock code. Can't duplicate it anywhere else I've tried.

Rick,

I have raised a support ticket in regards to this issue and hope you might be able to find what has gone wrong.
